How I "refer" and why!   I feel strongly about using our local merchants as often as possible... with four provisos:

1. I receive no fees of any kind when I make referrals.

2. Your arrangement with these "contractors" is between you and the person you hire to do a job. Take all the precautions you would take if this "list" did not exist and you were hiring someone from the yellow pages or other outlets.

3. Set up a payment plan with the Contractor and stick to it. If changes are made to a job while it's in progress, get it signed off on by both parties.

4. Remember... this is just a "list" not an endorsement. 

How I "refer":     When I find someone who can do a job right,  I refer them for other similar jobs as long as they perform and treat my clients in a fair and equitable manner.

Finally! Use Common sense!  If the contractor you hired to install florescent light fixtures... shows up at your building with a crane... Flip the "OPEN" sign to "Closed" and don't answer the door.
